California Summer Flower Art

Summer is coming to a close, thus its blooms are almost over making way for the flower stars of autumn. Now is a good time to re-introduce a line of collage art featuring medicinal flowers grown around our Staccarto studio. This collection art in the garden is made to bring the warmth of summer to any room. It features roses, calendula, lantana and cheerful chicory.

One of the inspirations for our flower collages were these roses. They inspired the Rose Healer Mandala we created for the California Wild Flowers collection.

Each piece of this art in the garden features multiple medicinal flowers found in many dry climateens of North America. These include herbal flowers like calendula, lantana, and California buckwheat as well as some surprised like Roses and Chicory flowers. All are great pollinator plants with prolific blooms with abundant nectar and pollen for passing bees and butterflies.

This project came from walks around the gardens and neighborhoods surrounding the Staccarto studio. Over the years our neighbors and us have planted perennial and annual flowers to support local wildlife. We also do it for the natural beauty they add to our neighborhood. And as you can see, we’ve got plentiful flowers in the alley. Special thanks to our gardener-neighbor Nancy for planting these blooms.

I began taking pictures of our beautiful neighborhood blooms. Later I started combining the images and created these relaxing rose, lantana, and calendula art mandalas. To see more of the Summer Flower Prints, check out our Instagram.
